Question: I have pain on the upper portion of my eyebrow. I have cold and severe running nose. Sometime I have to use pressure to bring out the mucus from the nasals. What is the problem? How can it be cured? Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Frontal Sinusitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The pain and tenderness in the upper eyebrow usually arises due to frontal sinusitis secondary to the cold and runny nose.

2. In addition to the antibiotic tthat you have started, you will require an anti-allergic, mucolytic medication and steam inhalation. OTC nasal decongestant drops will also help in the short term.

3. If this persists for more than a couple of days, get yourself examined by a local ENT Specialist.

4. If this is a one off acute sinusitis, no further treatment will be necessary. If this is a recurrent problem, a plain Sinus CT will help plan further treatment.

5. You may follow up here with the examination and CT Scan reports for further treatment advice.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you may take the Panadol.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. You can take the Panadol, which will take care of the anti-inflammatory part. Remember to take this after meals (not on an empty stomach).

2. An anti-allergic such as cetirizine, levocetirizine or fexofenadine once a day will help.

3. Ideally you should take medication only under the strict supervision of a doctor. You will require a prescription for most of these medication. Hence it is better to visit a physician, especially if this persist for more than a couple of days.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
