Brief Answer:
No rekation with heart origin of the pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your question.

I understand your concern and I am glad you are a well-inforned patient.

Indeed, pain originated from the heart is situated in the sternum and the chest. The localized, finger-pressing-originated pain is not characteristic of pain originated from the heart. It also is not affected by the inspiration-expiration cycle. Therefore, my advice is that you should not worried about. This kind of pain makes us seek for any inflammatory process of the locomotory system of the area: bones, cartilages and muscle. Every time we conduct laboured breathing, there is a chances that between rib muscles produce such pain. I see in your description that you are diagnosed with costochondritis, and this definitely can produce the kind of pain you described. Another time, my advice and opinion is that there is nothing wrong with your heart, from the pain point of view. I am concluding this based on the non-specific pain, your young age (as heart problems are concerned) and the normal results of the exams you have undergone.

I hope my advice is helpful. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions.

Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton

Brief Answer:
No cardiac problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

Yes, this is not a cardiac problem, also the troponin levels are normal (troponin is a specific enzyme of the heart muscle, which is raised whenever there is cardiac tissue damage). As I stated in the former answer, costochondritis fits best your symptoms and explains the specifics of the pain you referred in the original answer. In the differential diagnosis, with lower probability, lung problems are included. If this is worrisome to you, you may undergo a plain chest X-ray, which would depict any possible problem with the pulmonary tissue. As regarding to ibuprofen (Advil), if this medication does not work, I would recommend to try either orally taken ketoprofen, or suppository indomethacin, which are more specific to treat pain originated from bone problems.

I hope my follow-up answer is helpful.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
