Question: Hi, I had an eptopic pregnancy. The doctors were just monitoring me because my levels were dropping. Did not work so I had methotrexate Wednesday 1st October then had to have surgery Thursday there was 1.5 liters of blood in my uterus. Surgery was ok in the end removed right tude. I now have a deep pain in my upper left thigh about 10cm above the knee it comes and goes? What is it? Ive had a terrible couple of days very anxious. I also have a swollen slightly llooking vein right above where the needle was in my right hand? Its sore to touch. Thankyou for your hell.

Brief Answer:
It can be due to deep vein thrombosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern, though.

Left thigh pain can be due to DVT (deep vein thrombosis), it may happen after surgery (as in your case).

You should consult your treating doctor and get Doppler ultrasound of thigh done to find out the pathology.

- You can take anticoagulant after consulting your physician.
- You should keep your leg elevated.
- Try to walk as much as possible.

Right hand swelling can be due to superficial thrombophlebitis, you can apply thrombophobe cream on it. It will usually resolve within a few days.

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.
