Question: I am a cancer patient of 6 years undergoing treatments of oral chemo and immunotherapy infusions for renal cell carcinoma. Recently, I noticed a vein (artery?) in my left inside armpit area that feels like it's being "stretched" whenever I extend my left arm outward. Looking in the mirror, this vein seems to protrude outwards, when my arms are outstretched. My right armpit area does not resemble this in any way. I will be seeing my oncologist this afternoon for a treatment but wanted to speak with you regarding what this may be an indication of. Thank you, XXXXXXX

The commonest cause of such a vein is Idiopathic Thrombophlebitis meaning inflamed vein without any obvious cause in most cases, although relation with cancer is known as you are already undergoing treatment with, and usually self limiting, unless proved otherwise.
Since you are consulting your Oncologist soon, please discuss this in detail so that you get correct diagnosis, investigations and management as needed.
