Brief Answer:
Most commonly pinched nerve in the back, Sciatica

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

The cause of such a radiating pain from the buttock to the feet is most commonly a pinched nerve due to slipped disc can cause severe pain in the lower back that radiates to the legs, aggravated on sitting, standing, walking, bending forwards or on lifting weights.

You must apply a hot water bottle to the area of pain to relieve the accompanying muscle spasm. Also pain killer and muscle relaxant combination is better like Tablet Diclofenac and Thiocolchicoside combination. You must avoid bending forwards or lifting weights.

Apply pain killer gel of the same medicine combination. Back extension stretching exercises will help a lot in reducing the pain by strengthening the muscles in the back. You can lie on your tummy and push up against the bed with your palms and arch upwards with the front part of your body.

Keep a thin pillow under your lower back. Lie flat on a firm mattress. Apply hot water bottle to the painful area. While getting off bed, turn your entire body to a side and then get up. You must see your Orthopaedician as soon as possible, get examined and get an MRI spine to find out the level and severity of compression.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Must consult Orthopaedician or Neurosurgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

A Neurologist will ask for an MRI once you are examined and he/she can ultimately only provide some medication versus a more detailed explanation of your problem and the right precautions and exercise that can be advised by an Orthopaedician.

Also an Orthopaedician can suggest the need for surgery based on your MRI findings correlating with your clinical symptoms and signs.

You can consult a Neurologist but ultimately you will be referred to an Orthopaedician or Neurosurgeon for ultimate management.

I hope I have answered your query.
