Question: I was having pain in pubic and testicles. Doctor found out that I have tender prostrate and asked me undergo semen culture. The culture identified E.coli and the growth was scanty. I was prescribed to use actum 250 mg tablet twice daily for 30 days. I m still having lower back pain and pain in penis. Please suggest...is this infection curable.. I am feeling very tired entire day..

Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query,based on the facts and report of your semen culture that you have posted it appears that you have pain in pubic area and testicles due to acute Prostatitis and had done semen culture which revealed E-Coli infection and organisms being highly sensitive to Ampicillin and combination of Amoxycylin and .Clavulanic acid. Please note that Prostatitis takes long time to get cured hence one has to take appropriate antibiotics as per culture report for a period of 6-8 weeks, Please switch over to combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily This will get cured within 6-8 weeks .
