default
Posted on Fri, 17 Apr 2015
Question: I thought I hurt my stomach muscles playing basketball, but after 3 months I still have pain in lower left abdoman, and pubic area and have a hard time starting urination. IWhen I drink beer I urinate often and it is uncomfortable and sometimes only can go 50 % of what I used to and stream is slow to start. Urologist said its normal old age and I should consider prostate pills, but I am only 50! Pain is dull and constant in pubic, lower abdoman.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have discomfort and pain in pubic area with hesitancy and poor stream .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have urgency for urination ,frequency, nocturnal frequency for urination ?
2) Are you diabetic?
3) Have you consulted Urologist and done necessary investigations like Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen etc?

All the symptoms that you have suggest Enlarged Prostate however it needs to be confirmed by Clinical and Digital Rectal examination by a qualified Urologist.

Please consult Urologist and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Routine Urine test.
2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen with post void urine residue
3) Serum PSA.
4) Uroflowmetry.

Further treatment will depend upon the results of these tests and final diagnosis.

In the mean while you can start taking Tomsulosin once daily .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
