Question: About 2 weeks ago, I woke up and my lower legs were very sore. This continue for approximately 2-3 or 4 days. Then going to bed, the area, I will call my diaghram area, on the outside, about a 4-5-6inch band was slightly sore.
About 3 days ago, my entire throat, was slightly sore. Today, the front of my throat on the inside, spasm or sore, I am not sure what to call it.
I have been having troubing walking the past 1 1/2 months. and have varios XXXXXXX problems, essential tremors, restless legs, and father & brother with Parkinsons, and some of my doctors call mine Parkinsons.
Could you perhaps offer comments?

Brief Answer:
I'm not sure which you would like answers to

Detailed Answer:
this is a strange case for Parkinson's unless your family has a genetic based diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. these do exist but are rare. most cases of Parkinson's are what's called idiopathic which means we don't know the cause yet. it would be really strange for a patient with Parkinson's to be on primidone.
so the real question is does primidone work?
this is a very high dose so how often do you take it?
have you ever been on sinemet?
do you have tremor of all four limbs plus head?
did it start in your 50's?
did it originally respond to low dose primidone?
these are the signs of Parkinson's'
-hunching of shoulders
-decreased blink rate
-balance problems
-shuffling feet when walking
-arm tremor when walking

answer some of these so I can help more

Dear Dr. Jackson:
My main question is what could this soreness going up my body in stages be coming from. Is it from one of my conditions I already have or is it something new? If so, what could it be? Answers to Questions. The primidone became ineffective. I am taking 150mg at night & 150mg at morning.
Sinemet -Was on it 25-30 years ago for restless legs(slept best ever slept). Became aware of side effects & stopped.
Tremors -Mainly right hand & often right arm & when really bad right leg. Sometimes the left side, when bad, starts. My head often shakes. Often my jaw.
When Started – Early 40’s – I believe essential tremors was correct them. The past few years have had changes & the past year bigger changes.
My husband says: My shoulders are hunched most of the time. My arm trembles when I walk part of the time.
Shuffling feet – I don’t know what it is that causes me to trip, stumble. Sometime I have to tell myself to pick my feet up.
Balance problems – yes. For the last 1 1/2 months very bad, and have had to do the following. I used a cane for 2 days in the house, 10 days ago. I have used a cane 3/4 or more of the time I am in public, so they won’t thing I am drinking or whatever.
Blink rate – I don’t know.
I just simply kept going & going and try to ignore things until they become where they can’t be ignored.

Brief Answer:
Sounds like maybe you have both

Detailed Answer:
the only way to know for sure is to get checked out.
a positive response to sinemet is the definitive answer.
Restless legs is very common in Parkinson's and not in essential tremor. if you have a tremor that shows up only when you are distracted and when you walk that sounds like Parkinson's. Parkinson's could explain your balance and walking difficulties and both of these symptoms respond favorably to sinemet. soreness is also a common complaint in Parkinson's, usually calf cramping. also low back pain and pinched nerves or neuropathy are common causes of cramping and pain. if you have calf/thigh/ buttock pain that is suggestive of degenerative disease of the lumbar spine. usually the back pain is worse when sitting and then improves only to worsen again with walking a short time
later. let me know if any of this pertains to you

Yes, I do have tremors, when distracted. Or maybe I just suddenly notice them. But they can be there for very long time and these are different from what they use to be. I have them when I am walking, also.
There has been no pain in the thigh or buttock. But my lower spine has 1 small place that had hurt, both sitting & standing. I haven't noticed about improving only to worsen again with walking a short time.

Brief Answer:
Sounds like you might have all three

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You should go get checked out. there are good treatments for Parkinson's and cramping. neither one is an emergency but the sinemet could help you become more XXXXXXX again.

regards,
