What Causes Pain Around Forehead And Neck, Sore Throat And Blocked Nose?

default
Posted on Sat, 12 Mar 2016
Question: Hey dr,

For the past 4 days now I have had this feeling that I am about to get a cold. I have the symptoms of a pressure pain around my forehead and neck, a slight sore throat with a bit phlegm and a slight blocked nose. But it doesn't feel like a normal cold with the runny nose and it getting worse and then better it has just stayed consistent. Like it hasn't gotten better nor worse allthough the head pain is slightly worse but that is about it. I am just unsure what it is and how to treat it I mean I don't feel completely worn down but I seem to feel it most when im lieing down and trying to sleep or waking up. I've tried Pandol and decongestant so far but its only helped a little. Would this be worth getting checked out or should I wait a bit longer to see if it gets better? Thing to note I do suffer from hayfever on occasion but this feels nothings like it and im currently on a Somac 40mg prescription which I started last week, I also started taking vitamin c.

Kind Regards,
XXXX

Thanks for that doctor i'd rather not go on antibiotics at this point but if it doesn't get better after how long should I get it checked out? Is it also possible to heal on its own and how long does it usually last for on average? When you say Pandol "sos" what does that mean?

Brief Answer:
Specific information

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
I have suggested antibiotics if needed. means we will try the rest of the treatment and if it doesn't get better then antibiotics can be considered.
Paracetamol sos is for fever in case you develop it. can also be used for headache. finally, it's unlikely to heal on its own.
Best of luck. Dr Mittal

Brief Answer:
You can wait for 5 to 7 days

Detailed Answer:
You can wait for 5 to 7 days before starting antibiotics. as far as meeting a doctor is concerned, I always suggest meeting a local Dr who can examine you and confirm the diagnosis. An ENT doctor would be needed in your case.
Best of luck. Dr Mittal. I
