Posted on Sat, 29 Apr 2017
Question: my son has a feeling of discomfort in his lower left abdomen and on the top portion of his belly button, he has had constipation for about a week, took a laxative and although it seemed to have solved the problem, the constipation has persisted. in addition, he took an antacid pill, to no avail. Lastly, when he ate a sandwich yesterday, his abdomen bloated rapidly a few minutes after he ate it, and the resulting bloating has persisted to some degree even as I am writing this. I am at a loss... can you possibly respond. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Hello. It suggest a possible gastrointestinal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So constipation, bloating and pain abdomen points towards possibly some gastrointestinal infection or an irritable bowel syndrome. I will advise him to drink plenty of fluids, eat home cooked food.
Despite that , probiotics three times a day will help. Moreover, if constipation persists, laxative like lactulose can be taken and titrated to dose producing upto 2 motions for a few days. There is actually nothing to worry.
Physical activity also keeps bowel activity normal and should be done regularly.
Thanks and regards
