What Causes Numbness And Tingling In Feet Along With Fever?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Oct 2014
Question: I have had 2 previous hospitalizations due to numbness and tingling on my left foot. (paralized for one whole week) One on 03/13 and second on 04/14.
Yesterday my hands became numb and tingling, fever 101.3, lips swelling, pulse 88 and weakness. (note weakness on a daily basis along with constipation)
I have attached blood results, MRI, xrays results from previous visits to neurologist and hospital admissions.
I just began to see a pediatric neurologist on July but sadly i just turned 18 on september and she advised me she could not diagnose me yet and to continue consulting an adult neurologist.
Please advise as to what you think I might have.
I have set up appt with neurologist but is not till November.

Brief Answer:
Can be Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your detailed history and reports attached. The recurrent numbness that you are having is likely to be related to an inflammatory problem or a viral illness or vitamin B12 deficiency. The electrolyte imbalance that you are having can also cause such symptoms.
You can get your vitamin B 12 levels evaluated and in case these are less than normal then start with proper supplements. Taking electrolyte rich fluids like Garotade and fresh fruit juices will also help.
Do go ahead with your appointment with neurologist for a detailed evaluation.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
