Question: She is a thyroid patient since last 1.5 years. TSH levels comes between 6 to 12. Now it is somewhat stable at 6. But the problem is nervousness, nausea and headache. This problems subsides and is controlled only when she takes Zaptra 12.5 mg once in 2 days. Why she requires Zaptra every time. Is it safe to take Zaptra or Zapiz for a longer period (she is taking it for the last 1 yr).

Brief Answer:
Not thyroid related.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
These symptoms are not because of the thyroid issues. Moreover relief from Zapiz means that the symptoms are due to anxiety.
In such case I would recommend alternative methods of anxiety relief and the most effective is meditation.
Zapiz should not be taken for a long time as it is a habit forming drug.
I would advice in such case to make her visit a Psychiatrist and get her a counselling done to adopt anxiety free life.
I hope it helps.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Doctor Sir,

Our thyro doctor had prescribed Betahistine (Vertine *16)- twice a day for 2 days instead of Zaptra & Zapiz (which were prescribed by a Psychiatrist). She tried it once but it didn't worked. Now, since she is taking Zaptra & Zapiz since August 2014, she seems to be used to these tablets. She is doing "Yoga" for about 20 minutes daily, but unable to leave these 2 tablets.

Sir, do you think that this an acute case of Psychiatric problem? Please advise us some safe and effective medicine to control her nervousness. Also is this headache and nausea is due to the regular intake of Zaptra & Zapiz? Pls advise. Thanking you, XXXXX (Mb.0000), XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Vertin won't help much

Detailed Answer:
Hi, see vertin is helpful in vertigo due to ENT Causes.
Her vertigo is due to stress.
In case of severe stress issues, she would be requiring anti depressants and anti anxiety drugs as she is taking. I prefer to add Etizolam which is short and rapid acting.
She would need to do meditation for the purpose of relief from anxiety.
Good Luck.

Doctor Sir,

Can you please suggest any brand name for the suggested Etizolam with dosage. She is 38 yrs and suffering from anxiety since 1.5 yrs. Earlier (6 months back) the symptoms were like; shaking of legs and spinning of head. But now (is she misses her dose of Zaptra or Zapiz) the symptoms are nervousness and weakness. In the last 1 year she also had severe hair loss.

She is doing Yoga for about 20 minutes. What more do you suggest. Any thorough tests are required? Please advise. Thanks & Regards - XXXX, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Its a prescription drug.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Etizolam is available with names Etizola, Etilaam, Etizest.
It is widely available but you need a prescription to buy it.
Propanolol also acts as mild anxiolytic and has very good effects in anxiety. The best part is that the addiction potential is low.
