Brief Answer:
Take steam, use Fluticasone nasal spray

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Nasal blockade without any cold or running nose for a shorter duration of one month can usually be due to hypertrophy of inferior turbinates. Inferior turbinates are raised areas of flesh on both side of lateral nasal walls. This will give a stuffy feeling in nose and need for constant clearing can be there.

The reason can be allergic or infective.

Allergic is usually accompanied with excessive sneezing and watery discharge but low grade allergy will lead to some edema of turbinate lining and will result in stuffy feeling although cold like feeling may not be there.

Infection in the nose and paranasal sinuses can lead to turbinate hypertrophy due to edema as well as persistent hypertrophy due to secretions.

When one clears the nostrils, the small amount of retained secretions will get evacuated and the nose becomes clear though nothing much is blown out.

Please do steam inhalation and take a mucolytic like Ambroxal 75mg once daily (Tab. Acocontin 75). If you feel that some allergic element is there, an antihistaminic tablet like levocetrizine 5mg can be taken for few days along with.

Use of Intra nasal steroidal sprays like Fluticasone (Avamys) 1Puff on both side twice daily will help in shrinking of the turbinate mucosa a bit and will relieve your symptoms.

In case, the symptoms persist, see an ENT for a nose examination and Xray PNS (if required).

Feel free to ask another query.

Thanks for the query.

Please take these medicines for three weeks. If you need to take levocetrizine if some allergic symptoms like irritation are there then take it for 3-5 days.
