Question: Hi
My 6 years old daughter has molluscum contagiosum on her lower face ( mandible ) and neck. The lesions itch and are flared with redness and a central shiny areas. Recently l have niticed a single bean shaped swelling on her neck which i think is an enlarged Lymph node. The location suggest a posterior cervical lymph node. Its not tender and no skin redness ,about 1cm XXXXXXX and rubbery. She's on Flucloxacillin for 6 days now with no change in the size of the lymph node. Do I have to worry about it? Thanks very much.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be non serious, give anti inflammatory medicines

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and according to me their is no need to worry.
The lymph node swelling seems to be related to inflamed molluscum contagiosum lesions.
The size of the lymph node is small and it is XXXXXXX So most likely it is not very serious.
I would recommend you to give her anti inflammatory medicines like syrup ibuprofen for 5 days and consult a dermatologist for faster clearing of molluscum lesions.
If the lymph node swelling doesn't improve in 5-7 days consult a doctor and get it examined clinically and go for Fine needle aspiration cytology ( FNAC ) test if required.
