What Causes Minimal Swelling With Excessive Inexplicable Pain In The Foot?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Feb 2017
Question: Friday night my ankle foot started hurting for no apparent reason. Saturday I could not put weight on it without a lot of pain. Minimal swelling. Better yesterday and today. I can bend it. Sometimes it feels distinctly like pain stops at the sock level. Was just checking to make sure it was not achilles rupture. There was no popping sound.

Brief Answer:
Not Achilles tear

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

Achilles rupture causes pain at the back of the heel. Also you would not be able to move your ankles up and down.

Apply warm packs to the affected region. Keep well hydrated. Get tested for Serum Uric acid to look for Gout.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thank you so much!

It seems that ice has relieved pain more than heat, but now it is swelling more around the inner ankle bone, and turning black and blue. Oh brother...

Brief Answer:
Needs rest

Detailed Answer:
There could be mild soft tissue contusion causing the bruise.

Keep the limb elevated. Avoid weight bearing for 5 days on that limb. Keep icing it.

Take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day after meals and Tablet Rabeprazole twice a day before meals for 5 days.
