Posted on Wed, 15 Oct 2014
Question: Hello... I recently visited my GP with what I can only descride as a large pinch sting sensation which stemed from under the right breast going further down on the right side, I also have a lump in my abdomen..my gp couldnt really feel what I was feeling but Im so certain and its caused me non stop worry. Im 23 and my GP has reffered me for an ultrasound scan he believes it could be gall stones or gall bladder disease, this was 4 weeks ago since then the pain has gone off quite some bit I do have mild cramps now and again but nothing major, general health is good periods are regular, bowls etc and no yellowing..but this lump that I feel is scaring me and I had this pain for a while before it started to ease..I am so scared I keep thinking alsorts, my tummy is quite lumpy in general I am over weight so im assuming I can feel lots of fat deposits, but Im so scared any idea of what this is?

Brief Answer:
What about the Ultrasound?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I don't think you should worry. The lumpy feel would be small lipomas in the abdominal wall and nothing else. However, gallstones or gall bladder disease cannot be ruled out until an Ultrasound is done. Please upload the reports of the ultrasound whenever it becomes available.

Even if it is gallstones and they are not causing pain then you need not undergo any surgery. So there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Just change your diet to less or no fat and decrease your carbohydrate intake. Try and put in moderate exercise atleast 5 days a week. Do all this and you will be fit and fine for life.

Take care. Will wait for your Ultrasound report.

I am still waiting for an ultrasound scan...

what about the lump in the addomen? Its not a hard lump but it isquite firm with a bit of give to it (medium sized), that is just concerning me. As I said though I do feel well in myself and my general health is very good...

the pain has almost completly gone, and I don't feel an increase in pain with certain foods, but on occassions I can get this pinching sensation, so Im still left fearing the worst

your help and advice is much appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Dont worry and dont have medicines till Ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX As I said we would have to wait for the Ultrasound to know what the lump is and from where it is arising. It is very difficult to comment upon it without examining and without an Ultrasound. But given the symptoms you dont need to worry. Until we know we cannot start treating it. And if your GP has examined it all the more reason not to be perturbed about it. Just relax and let us know the Ultrasound report. No medicines required as of now. Take care.

That should be fine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX That should be fine. But I hope the medicine is not leading to upset stomach or diarrhoea. That's a known side effect you. Besides that you don't need to bother about.

Take care.

No I have not had any stomach upsets, I now have a date for my ultrasound which is in two weeks it has been put through as routine by my doctor, although I am still so fearful of this Iv been reading up on this and I know I shouldn't but Iv been thinking of other possibilities.. ovarian problems etc,

Im still getting this light aching on my right side, around were this lump is, fearing it's a tumour, I am still feeling well and eating normally but I just cant seem to relax

Brief Answer:
Try and see your GP earlier and please relax.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I dont think it would be an ovarian problem. Such large lumps arising from the ovary should be causing other symptoms. Secondly the location that you mention is also unlikely for the same.

But I cant say with certainty until I examine you or see your Ultrasound report. We can do nothing but wait since the Ultrasound is slated for two weeks later. If you feel stressed out about it you could ask your GP to see you again earlier than two weeks if possible.

So take care and let me know of any developments. But in any case dont worry, it will not help in any way. I can understand your predicament but can only tell you to try and relax and hope for the best. Positive thinking can do wonders.

Okay thank you, I understand you can not advise me further now until the ultrasound which is fine, this has been on and off since august and besides mild twinges in that area and the lump I'm still feeling myself, so I suppose by now if it was more of a concern I should of developed further symptoms?im eating fine and sleeping, even doing moderate exercise etc I know its a case of waiting now..thankyou for your time
