What Causes Lower Left Abdominal Pain?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: for past few weeks I have had left lower abdomen pain, about 3 inches above pubic and three inches to the left on left lower abdomen area. The pain is sort of a dull pinching/pulling type pain with lots of ongoing feeling like I always have to poop or that it is never completely empty even when I use the bathroom. This started shortly after I two-three day episode of severe constipation after being prescribed Aleve 2x a day for a week.
I am no longer constipated but the feeling does not seem to disappear from more that a day here or there. I have had no blood or changes in stool size etc. I no longer take Aleve. Feeling anxious from the ongoing issue. It is not a horrible pain. Just enough to be annoying.

Brief Answer:
Possible diverticulitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.

This sounds like diverticulitis and this is most likely an inflammation of the colon wall. You need to get a CT scan of the abdomen done in the first place to establish the diagnosis and then it should be treated with antibiotic course eg. Ciprofloxacin 2X500mg daily.

Meanwhile, you should have easier diet, more fluids, probiotics , high fiber food, boiled food.

Wish you good health.
