Brief Answer:
Jaw muscle weakness

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXX,

Thank you for posting the question.

Lower jaw quivering and dropping down most commonly occurs due to jaw muscle weakness.

The muscles that are present on either aspect of the jaw are meant for the smooth functioning of the jaw.

Deficiency of vitamins and carnitine can cause these muscles to be weak.
Weakened muscles can undergo spasms leading to dropping of the jaw and quivering.

Rarely, some diseases related to the brain, like neuron disease, parkinson's disease etc may indirectly cause these symptoms.

I suggest you to take vitamin supplements. L carnitne tablets will provide you much relief from the symptoms.

Jaw muscle strengthening exercises will be of help.

If the symptoms do not improve within 10 days, you can consult a physician, preferably a neurologist to rule out brain related causes.

I hope this answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up questions that you may have.

Thank you.

Kind regards.

I started vitamin B12 1000mcg about three weeks ago. Would that have any bearing on my problem? Also D3 1000IU but have used for 6/8 months. I take one 'Tylenol type' tablet, 650mg or 500mg twice per day for pain per doctors advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back.

Vitamin B12 1000mcg will definitely have beneficial effects on the symptoms that you are presently suffering from. You should continue taking it for another 2 weeks.

D3 recommended dose is 60,000 IU per week. You seem to be taking very low dose at present.
60,000 IU D3 is available in capsule or XXXXXXX form.
You can take it once in a week for a period of 1 month

Taking pain killer tablets daily should be avoided as these may have adverse effect on the liver and kidney functioning.

Thank you.

Regards.
