What Causes Low Platelet Count?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Jul 2014
Question: I just got my blood work done and I had a blood platelet count of 136 but everything else was normal. I am taking blood pressure medication along with a full aspirin per day. My cardio doctor wanted the full dose of aspirin because i have been diagnosed with a fib. I also take fish oil daily along with a testostorone injection 1 time per week. could this be the cause of the low platelet count?

Brief Answer:
Aspirin is the cause sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The cause for your low platelet count is undoubtedly your aspirin intake sir. It slows the production of blood platelets resulting in a thinning effect of the blood. Your cardiologist prescribed the aspirin in order to avoid the formation of any potentially harmful blood clots. Do not worry about your blood platelet count as long as your cardiologist thinks it is fine sir.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you sir.

Best wishes.
