What Causes Lightheadedness While Suffering Form Vestibular Migraine?

default
Posted on Thu, 28 May 2015
Question: Hi I have had every test imaginable and Dr is now sure I am suffering with vestibular migraines the inbalance that comes with it is all day every day though and I am over it, dont get the headache often but can its mainly the lightheadness and today I almost blacked out once or twice.

We are sure its related to Hormonial issues still waiting on the time frame from going of the pill till I can confirm menopause with blood test but I have not had a period for just over 12 months. so we are thinking that it is possible.

I do take coverram for blood pressure and it is well controlled and diet controlled diabetic controlled as well today for eg when I was really lightheaded tested both BS was 5.9 and BP was 130/81 so both of them perfect so not this I also take sandamigraine to help with the migraines this does help sometimes.

what I am trying to find out is there anything either herbal or over the counter that I can try in Australia that might help with the lightheadness could it be a vitiam deficiency or imbalance or what?.

Brief Answer:
Vestibular rehabilitation will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam.

I understand your concern.

Since many of your vital parameters are normal, you need not worry much.

Dizziness can be directly related to hormonal issues and vestibular migraine.

You do not need further imaging like CT or MRI.

This dizziness can be controlled with drugs like Meclizine.

Meclizine 50 mg twice daily for 14 days is very effective.

This drug has to be taken under strict medical supervision.

Likewise I recommend Vestibular rehabilitation is also advocated

The Cawthorne-Cooksey exercises involve head and body movements, as well as eye head coordination and balance tasks.

These services are available at Royal Melbourne Hospital,RMH,Australia.
