Brief Answer:
Rest, analgesic and Mecobalamine is helpful.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Your mother's MRI finding of 6.5 mm at L4,L5 level shows that she is having spinal stenosis( narrowing of spinal canal, may be due to disc prolapse. ) . I can better serve you better if you upload MRI report. Your Doctor may be right in advising operation. She is likely to get benefitted by rest ( no walking) for few weeks. Rest is advised in lateral position. She can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Mecobalamine is helpful in neuralgic pain.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Are there any sside effects of this surgery as there is some disc removal processing in the surgery.
Is surgery only the last option to treat this ?Is there any life risk in it ?I ll upload the MRI report soon

Brief Answer:
If pain is not relieved by rest and analgesic then surgery is required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
If pain is not relieved by rest and analgesic then surgery is required. Side effects of surgery is weakness of back as bone have to be removed. Risk involve damage to nerve fibres ( root) during surgery.
Everything else already discussed.
