What Causes Lack Of Breast Milk After 1 Week Of Child Birth?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Feb 2016
Question: I had three miscarriages and last Tuesday, December 29, I delivered our first child. My milk has not come in yet and I desperately want to nurse my son. Is there any connection between the miscarriages and my milk not producing. I am pumping and staying hydrated and drinking Mother's Milk Tea. HELP!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your case, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.
1] please do not worry.
2] Usually breastfeeding gets established in a week's time after delivery. There is no direct connection between previous miscarriages and breast feeding as such.
3] Please observe silence, solace, privacy and mental peace at the time of feeding the baby.
4] As you have rightly said you need to be well hydrated. Do consume 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. Consume milk and milk products like curds, yoghurt or buttermilk.
5] Use of herbs that increase milk secretions, they are available as capsules and powders or granules. They contain ASPARAGUS. You can also include Asparagus soup in diet. Also, use of FENUGREEK seeds in diet helps to improve milk secretions, sprouted fenugreek seeds can be included in daily diet.
6] I will also suggest a prescription medicine - Metachlopromide ( REGLAN) that can be taken for a week; of course with your doctor's prescription.
7] Please do not panic at all. Be at mental peace, that is the key for breast secretions. Please do not get stressed with non medical comments and advice.
WISH YOU HAPPY PARENTING.
Please feel free to connect for any other query.
I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
Wish you great health.
