What Causes Knot In Shoulder And Tingling Around Armpit In An Overweight Person?

Question: I'm a 25 year old male. A little overweight. Could lose about 15 pounds. I have a history of anxiety and panic attacks. Got off 20mg of Paxil in April. I have a knot around my left shoulder blade, tingling around armpit, some left side chest tightness that seems to be relieved after I burp and let gas out. It's also caused a great deal of anxiety and has also led to some panic attacks and lightheadedness with dizziness. It's weird I can work all day on my feet with no symptoms then sit in my car after work and they all arise. I've also noticed food is a trigger as well. I'm going to the DR next Monday

Brief Answer:
These are psychological associations

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and shall answer accordingly.

You have been diagnosed as anxiety disorder previously and had taken paxil for that.

Give me the answers of following questions: How long you have been suffering from anxiety? were there any stressful events behind this? For How long you have taken paxil? Do you have any gastric symptoms like epigastric burning after eating, Burning in epigastrium before food and relief on intake of food? Do you have noticed blood in your stool or in vomit? Does the color of stool has turned black recently? Whether the knot in left shoulder blade is moving to tender on touch?

Give answers to above questions.

In anxiety disorders if particularly related to stress, it may be possible that during work it can not occur because, the mind is occupied by other important tasks but when you are free and try to relax you may have memory and thoughts of the past time where you have experienced the panic attacks in the same circumstances and it can trigger another panic attacks. This is common in person with panic disorder and agoraphobia, though you may not have agoraphobia but the panic attacks may have been associated with the circumstances of previous panic attacks. For example if a person has panic attack during bath on one day, next time when he will go for bath the thoughts of previous experience of panic attack during bathing can trigger anxiety. It may be associated with food also in similar way.

Hoe I have answered your query. If you have further query then feel free to ask. Wish you good health.
