Question: Thank you. Is it alright to take Trazadone 150 mg, and Tramadol 50 mg at the same time. I fell on a cement floor and cause a fair amount to pain to my knee. I was an EMT, but, don't know if it's o.k. to take them together.

Brief Answer:
Trazadol and tramadol not to be taken together

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Trazadone and tramadol when taken together can lead to increased serotonin levels in the body leading to dangerous complication characterized by increased blood pressure, heart rate, muscle spasm, fever, seizure etc. called serotonin syndrome.
It is therefore not recommended to take these medications together.
You can take a NSAID like Advil for pain and reducing inflammation. Apply ice on the area of pain and keep the leg elevated and take rest. If the pain/swelling is worsening Xray is recommended to rule out an underlying fracture.
