Question: I had Thai food for dinner last evening. I have experienced itching and burning ever since that meal. I don't know of anything that might relate to this allergic reaction. Can you help?

Brief Answer:
Food allergy possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

A food allergy is possible. Benedryl and Certirizine are good first line options but I would advise adding ranitidine, in consultation with your doctor to these two which is an H 2 blocker and can help in case of food allergies. PPIs, metoclopramide and antacids can be added further down the line as part of the treatment. Check your blood sugar just in case to be sure there is no spike. If the itching and burning persist and there is additional shortness of breath, extensive rash development then you should go to an E.R near you for further management.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
