What Causes Intermittent Tremors In Right Hand And Cervical Radiculopathy?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Feb 2015
Question: I have a right hand tremor at rest off and on for about 6 months, difficulty writing, doing dishes, and using my phone and computer for texting etc. I was recently diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy... I had severe pain in my neck and clavicle on the right side. I went to PT for 10 weeks and the pain improved quite a bit. Now it seems to be mostly in my right forearm (same side that the hand tremor is on), for which I wear a brace at night. Other symtoms: always seem to hold my right arm bent and close to my body, my voice sounds strange to me (no one else seems to notice), bump into doorways constantly when passing through, my right foot "catches" on things very often. Other symptoms: ( maybe unrelated) dry eyes, diminished sense of smell, foods often taste fowl to me and not others, urgency when having to urinate, often feel like I see insects running by out of the corner of my eye when there is nothing there, great amt. of difficulty whith eyes adjusting from bright daylight then going into a tunnel, heart races often upon standing and I feel light headed. Personal info: Female, 46 yrs. old

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are suggestive of parkinsonism.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and they are suggestive of parkinsonism. The most common cause of parkinsonism is Parkinson's disease (PD). Other causes are drugs/medications, lack of blood supply to a part of brain, head injury, brain infections, etc.

You need to be examined by a neurologist. A brain scan may be needed to exclude other causes of parkinsonism.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
