Question: Sir good morning. My mother age is 94 yrs. Suddenly BP dropped to 90/45 and heart beat 142. I gave table salt water. Now improving. This happens frequently once or twice a month. Sir is there any other medicine to treat.

Brief Answer:
Regular medication not necessary. Need to look into existing medication

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Good morning and thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Due to reduction in blood pressure, the heart rate is at a higher rate, which is necessary for maintenance of blood pressure.
2. As, it is not regular, no medication is necessary.
3. If it were to be regular hypotension, the steroids treatment would have helped in improving blood pressure.
4. As it is occasional in month - once or twice - previous days causes like low hydration, stress and nutrition needs to be looked into.
5. As there is no blood loss or any diarrhea episodes, no cause can easily be attributed.
6. Any medication, if given on regular basis, could increase the blood pressure.
7. However, one important query, i do have is
- 1. Is she on any therapy for hypertension?
2. If yes, has her dose varied anytime?
3. Who is responsible for her medication?
4. What is her regular blood pressure on other days?
5. What are the medications - can you give me all medications, she is on with time being taken?
Any further history, if you can add, do add.

Hope it helps.
