Question: I just started taking adderal for my adult adhd. I take 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg in the afternoon around 2pm. But I've noticed coming off of it my heart rate increases and I get pain I'm left rib cage. Also insomnia even if I have two cups of camomile tea and 3mg of melatonin I can't sleep. Do you think my dose is too high or is my body just needing time to adjust.

Brief Answer:
its adderall side effects; lowering the dose helps and stop smoking

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to health care magic!

Your query suggests that you are having some side effcets to adderall.

Adderall is a stimulant medicine approved for the treatment of adhd. It is usually started in a low dose and blood pressure is monitored for a few days. The drug also needs ecg report prior to starting it in many clinics.
In my clinic I usually get an ecg/ekg before initiating this molecule whenever feasible or ask the patient to get it done.

Your symptom of chest pain is most possibly due to adderall (however it may also be due to acidity for which you are taking prilosec). If you feel that chest pain occurs after 15-30min of taking adderall then please get an ecg and blood pressure reports.

The increased anxiety is due to adderall and your ciggarette smoking. Please avoid smoking, it not only stimulates your brain but also leads to acidity and gastritis.

Sleeplessness is also due to adderall. Your doctor has given the dosages at the right time but still your sleep is disturbed. If my patient has these complaints , I try to reduce both the morning and afternoon dosages or atleast reduce the second dose to 10mg or so.

Please discuss the above points with your doctor. I think due to all these side effects your doctor will go for reducing the drug.

So, kindly go to your treating team and revise the medication.

Wish you good health
