What Causes Hips And Leg Pain At Night?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Aug 2015
Question: My hips and legs ache at night and I have trouble sleeping on my sides. Leg and hip muscles have weakened. I started taking a generic for Lipitor about 4 months ago because combined cholesterol level was 257. Also started walking more about the same time. My question: is the statin affecting the pain I have at night and the weakness in my legs?

Brief Answer:
Welcome back

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,

Your strange heart beat most likely is caused by some types of arrhythmias, which is caused extrasystoly (premature heart contraction). If they are nor very frequent, then they are not dangerous. So, nothing to worry.

About atorvastatin, in case you didn't have any symptoms before taking atorvastatin, it can be its side effect.
I have calculated your cardiovascular risks: in case you don't smoke, there is low cardiovascular risk and no need for statin, especially if it causes side effects.

I would advise you to discuss with your doctor the possibilities of discontinuation of statin.

My advise to you will be to follow healthy lifestyle, eat healthy food, do not smoke, lose weight if you are overweight and exercise regularly.

Take care
