Brief Answer:
Suggest barium swallow

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal. I have read your query. I think I would be able to help you.

The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possibility called herniation in the esophagus. A pouch like component develop in the esophagus. And the patient feels as if the food is misdirected.

Since the treatment is surgical the diagnosis has to be confirmed and therefore I suggest that you test with a barium swallow test.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
