What Causes Heavy And Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding?

Question: on august 4th I finished my period which had been going on for 5 weeks with heavy bleeding and clots and now on the 13 I am bleeding again but very light to spotting. any idea on what it could be? I went to the ER on the fourth week I had my period since I don't have insurance and they told me everything came back fine but I am not to happy with that result because apparently there is something wrong. please help.

Hello mam, thanks for trusting in health care magic.
It is definitely not normal to bleed heavy for 5 weeks in row and then starting again in 10 days.
Can you please scan and upload your reports especially the ultrasound so that I can study them and advise the needful
Most common cause for this can be either an ovarian cyst or a fibroid uterus and both can be detected on ultrasound.
In case these are not present then thyroid hormone levels if deranged can lead to such a pattern of bleeding.
So please send me your reports.

I would have to ask the hospital to provide me with a copy of the ultrasound because they never gave me one. I will work on that today and I will send it to you as soon as I get it. and thank you for your rapid response.
