Dear XXXX,

The test enclosed by you is Mantoux test and it is not positive. Mantoux test is done by injecting Purified Protein derivative (PPD- derived from Mycobacteria tuberculosis protein) into the dermal layer of the skin. If the child is exposed to Tuberculosis infection either present or past, the body will mount a immune reaction leading to formation of hardened area at site of infection. If the diameter of hardness is 10 mm it is positive. As in case of your son it's only 7 mm it's negative.
The clinician has been wise enough to suspect and rule out Tuberculosis in case of long duration cough and fever. I hope Chest X ray has been done and it's normal.
There could be many causes of such symptoms in children. U will enumerate few of the condition which can present as this
1. Allergic Pharyngitis/Bronchitis: Exposure to dust or allergen. Or even dry air like in ac
2. Hay fever
3. Tuberculosis

Most likely it appears to be Allergic.
I would suggest you the following which will definitely help

1. Steam inhalation: using a electronic steamer done twice a day for ten minutes each
2. Warm Saline gargling : To a glass of lukewarm water add two spoon of common table salt. Gargle throat with it thrice a day.
3. Decoction : to a cup of milk + 10 Tulsi leaves + 2 gms of fresh ginger + 1 spoon of turmeric + 2 spoon of sugar plus 4 black pepper. Bring it to boil. Filter it and serve him hot. It will decrease the throat congestion
4. Chyawanprash will build up his immunity
5. Wash all his pillow covers and bedsheets in hot water to remove dust and mites.change them daily.

I hope this will be helpful to control his symptoms. If it persist he will require reassessment by your Pediatrician

In case you require any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
