Can Non Tuberculous Mycobacterium Cause Recurrent UTIs?

CAN NTM CAUSE UTI , NO OTHER RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS, BUT LOWBACKACHE ONLY? WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR NTM?
RECURRENT UTI AND URINE TEST RESULT SHOWING non tuberculous mycobacterium, what will be the probable diagnosis and what may be treatment available and is there any need for further investigations?

Hello,

NTM can cause recurrent UTI (though rarely). Probable diagnosis is Mycobacterium avium complex or abscessus/fortuitum responsible for NTM.

Treatment is available in the form of various groups of antibiotics to be consumed for the period of 1 to 2 years.

Need further evaluations as:
• Sequencing of 16S RNA gene
• Complete blood counts, ESR, CRP
• Serum albumin, globulin ratio
• Serum creatinine, urea levels
• HIV, VDRL
• CT scan with IVP (provided creatinine is normal)
• X-ray of the chest
