Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: Hi I have been suffering for the past year with a continuous cold. It comes and stays bad for about 2 weeks then gets better for a while then goes away for a couple weeks and the cycle continues. I get so bad I get coughing fits that I have passed out and I wet myself a lot. I have seen doctors they cant seem to give me an answer and this is affecting my life. I am over weight and I lost weight 2 years ago and now that I am always sick it has all come back and some, no energy. I am a 35 year old women children 10 and 12. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid issues ( under control), High blood pressure ( was good, got off track fixing with meds), Had gestational diabetes, and iron level problems. I am currently on levothyroxine sodium 175 mcg, paroxetine hydrochloride 20 mg, losartan potassium 50 mg, ( was on Ramipril but change to see if it helps with cough, does not help). I was on metformin for sugar levels but no longer need. Please help.

Brief Answer:
CT PNS is the need of the hour.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through your query in detail.

You possibly seem to have recurrent rhinosinusitis.

The leading causes for such episodes are Nasal septal deviations and Maxillary sinusitis.

Hence ruling them in/out is the preliminary strategy. For this, I advise you to get a CT scan of the paranasal sinuses-CT PNS.

Further precise management whether medical or surgical is based on the test results.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
