Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.

Fluttering in the carotid artery area might be because of narrowing of carotid arteries is usually caused by plaque due to buildup of fat, cholesterol, calcium and other substances .

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , I would advice you
Carotid Doppler Test is used to detect narrowing of the arteries in the neck (the carotid arteries) that supply blood to the brain.

Continue simvastatin for cholesterol maintenance .

I plan on seeing my internist doctor as soon as I can and already knew that I want a test done on the carotid artery to see if it is plaque build up or how severe the restriction might be. I am aware of the possibility of plaque breakaway and stroke potential. What treatment is usual in cases like this if there is significant plaque or constriction? What medications or procedure? Thanks
