What Causes Fits While Sleeping And Spasms When Awake In An Infant?

Question: my grand daughter 11 months old has been having"violent"starts as soon as she falls asleep is relaxed and then "spasms" awake with screaming ,her body fells very hot to touch on side against bed.Is in teething stage has 5 so far,has been getting infant tylenol.

I am so sorry to hear about this violent starts. If she is eating and playing normally as before, then we should monitor only for now as it is not uncommon with children as they are fast developing. However, if there is a change in her behavior and feeding, only at that time will I suggest a comprehensive evaluation by a pediatrician. Tylenol is good and provide on as needed basis, only!

She slept longer between feeds last night which isn't normal. This only started this morning , and since then she hasn't been eating as much . And has been sort of playful but not quite as much , as she seems exhausted but hasn't really had much lack of sleep compared to what she normally does
