Posted on Thu, 15 Oct 2015
Question: I'm have been tired for a week now, I sleep well at night but I have to sleep day time, I feel tired all the time suddenly. I eat really well, veggies fruits proteins. I don't take any medication.
I have no fever, no other symptoms than feeling like a big head. (sorry I speak french so I dont know the terms in english) maybe feeling numb like when you are jetlagged coming back from europe and feeling like going to bed right away. My skin color is fine, my stools, urine everything normal.

Brief Answer:
needs investigation to determine the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

excessive fatigue can be caused by various conditions. Some of the more common ones are:
- infection, checking your temperature would help a lot...
- anemia, a complete blood count should suffice to confirm or exclude it
- electrolyte disorders, check your sodium, potassium and calcium levels
- thyroid function, checking the TSH should be enough
- drugs (some of them may make you feel tired or sleepy)
- sleep apnea syndrome, snoring is a clue... your sleeping partner should have noticed pauses in your breath during the night
- psychologic or psychiatric causes

Your symptom if of recent onset. In cases like yours I'm not usually so eager to investigate the symptom so soon, unless the reason is obvious or there are certain clues from the medical history or examination. Of course, if the symptom is debilitating, investigation should proceed right away.

I hope you find my comments helpful!

Kind Regards!
