What Causes Dizziness Followed By Hearing Problem And Distorted Vision?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Oct 2014
Question: It started on Saturday when I stood up from my son's soccer game after having sat for about 45 minutes. I felt dizzy, hearing that seemed muted, sight distortion with vision in both eyes and a very minor headache. This lasted for a few minutes and then most symptoms passed. Ever since then it seems that most times that I stand I experience the same symptoms with the exception of the distortion in my vision. The eyes are okay. The minor headache has increased slightly though and these symptoms last for a few minutes.

Brief Answer:
Further investigations are needed...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

Your symptoms (syncope) might be of vaso-vagal in origin. I advise to run further diagnostic tests:
- ECG
- echo-cardiogram
- holter monitoring

to exclude cardio-vascular problems and

- audiogramme to exclude inner ear issues

Depending on the tests results, specific treatment will be prescribed. For the moment, I advise to:
- monitor your blood sugar and blood pressure level
- take OTC pain-killers to relieve headaches
- have your meals regularly, do not skip them

Hope it helped!
