Posted on Thu, 8 May 2014
Question: I did experience migraine symptoms almost a year back with severe head and neck pain on mostly right side of my head and neck. I even encountered some temporary vision bluriness at that time. I was advised Ciplar 20mg and Sibelium 5g daily by the doctor for first 6 months and then was titrated to Ciplar 10mg and Sibelium 5g and i have been taking the medicine for almost 9 months now. The problems of headache and neck pain was gone but lately for last 3-4 months i have been experiencing dizziness, lazyness and have been sleeping a lot. I have lately been feeling very lazy and experiencing weakness as well. I have recently been advised by the doctor to now stop taking Ciplar and continue with Sibelium, but the pain seems to slowly come back. What should i do....

Brief Answer: Medicines and life style changes... Detailed Answer: Hi, I understand your concerns. Both ciplar and sibelium are listed with few side effects. Ciplar can affect your blood pressure and heart rate leading to dizziness. This may have prompted your doctors to stop ciplar. Moreover there are many patients who have had controlled migraines on only sibelium. So do not be worried. I would suggest you to improve your life style. "No fasting and staying awake for long hours" are the two important tips I give my patients. Be regular with your food and sleep at timed interval. Avoid sun exposure and strong aromatic smells. If migraine spells are very frequent despite the life style and sibelium, your doctors can titrate the dose further to 10mg. In short, there are plenty of options available to treat your migraine. Do be worried. Be religious with medicine and strict life style. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications. Regards
