Posted on Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Question: I am having Hypertension since 10 years and using tablets to control. On 26th Aug. morning, when I got up from sleep, I was feeling very dizzy and unsteady while walking. I am trying to walk steadily but something was pushing me to make my walk unsteady. I had this problem about 5 years back and doctor prescribed me VERTIN 16. So after having my breakfast, I took Vertin 16 along with my pressure tablet ie. Olmesartan 20. This iI repeated in the night too. Today I am feeling fit. What could be the cause of this feeling? Should I go for any further tests? Is there something that I have to be careful? Or any type of diet is the cause? Is it serious? Kindly inform.

Brief Answer:
vertigo.

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXX
Welcome to HCM.
You probably had an attack of vertigo. As you are a long standing hypertensive , it is advisable to get your blood pressure checked at frequent intervals.
Fluctuations in blood pressure can happen due to factors like stress and diet changes. As you have responded to vertin, it is probably vertigo and hence there is nothing to worry .

However, to be on safer side,I would recommend you to get a physical examination done.
All the best

My BP is around 130/90 almost all the time I get it checked.
What do you mean by physical examination? Is it any tests that I have to undergo.
Is it serious? How to avoid in future?

Brief Answer:
routine check up

Detailed Answer:
hi, don't worry. It is not serious.physical examination means getting yourself checked by doctor for any health issues.
He will order appropriate investigations like ecg, kidney function test, liver function test, urine examination etc which will help us in identifying new diseases.
Other than that there is nothing to worry.
Hope i am clear
