Question: My husband started having severe watery diarrhea,followed by vomiting he is having extreme muscle spasms and extreme thirst (20 bottles of water in last 24 hours)

Thank you for the query.

Please take him to the hospital. From your description his symptoms last way too long. Usually gastrointestinal infection lasts about 24 hours. In that time, the symptoms should gradually get better.
As he looses lots of fluids, he may have acute renal failure what can be life threatening. Please check his heart rate. If its higher than 100, he should not wait any longer.

He has a Dr.s appt. in 1/2 hours will it be safe to wait? I'm waiting for his mother to come help me get him in the car

I did not wait to take him to his Dr. Appt. I called an ambulance. When they got him to the hospital his BP was 74/49 and he is in kidney failure. He has been transported to a trama hospital. Thank You so much for the promt response. You probably saved his life.
