What Causes Diarrhea, Pain, Nausea, Tiredness And Lack Of Appetite?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Oct 2015
Question: For 3-4 months I've had various stomach issues including diarrhea, pain, nausea, feeling more tired and recently having episodes where I won't be hungry and just feeling blah. Doc ran tests and ultrasound showed enlarged liver, cholelithiasis in gallbladder, 10.28 for c reactive protein test, 54 for SED rate, 15.1 for RDW, and high ALT of 43. Wondering if it's something auto immune, worst fear there is cancer somewhere. Any thoughts of what could be up with my body?

Brief Answer:
Nothing worrisome, to determine treatment for gallbladder stones

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

First, try to relax as you are running the right tests to confirm your diagnosis

From what you are describing so far, your clinical symptoms and the primary tests results are showing cholelithiasis (gallbladder stones ).

Your doctors will run further tests to determine the final treatment strategy : if you need oral medications only or should go for surgery.

Again, nothing worrisome, I am sure everything will be settled for good.

Wish fast recovery!

So the high sed rate, high c reactive protein and those other 2 high blood tests are all from gallbladder? Cholelithiasis can cause all those to be high? When I typed all those tests into Google everything kept popping up for lupus and my great uncle had lupus and I was tested several years ago for it bc my ana was positive. I found out tomorrow what my stool test shows and if ana is positive still or not.

Brief Answer:
Yes,cholelithiasis is associated with inflammation/infection processes...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Now, all the lab tests you did so far (sedimentation and c reactive protein) are suggesting for a possible inflammatory process in your body. Now, our duty (medical team) is to determine where this inflammatory process is located.

Because you are also having high ALT levels, then, this inflammatory process might be located in your liver system including gallbladder. I believe you ran abdominal ultrasound which has noted cholelithiasis.

And, yes, cholelithiasis can alter all the lab tests you did so far because it is associated with:
- inflammation of gallbladder
- and sometimes with infection

A course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications are advised before deciding whether you need surgery or not.

Now, I understand you want to know more about your health condition, but, to my opinion, it is all clear: once you have resolved problems with cholelithiasis, the current symptoms you might be having will be resolved too.

You can wait until the stool tests and ANA test results to see if you have other autoimmune problems apart cholelithiasis.

Hope it was of help! Wish fast recovery!
