What Causes Depression And Anxiety Even After Wellbutrin And Effexor Intake?

Question: I have a long history of depression and panic attacks. Diagnosed with PTSD. In addition I suffer from arthritis in the back and the hands. I was treated by a doctor and prescribed 37.5 dosage of Effexor as well as 150 mg of Wellbutrin that I'm supposed to take twice a day. I have had to take them separately because of the strong effects they produce which culminates into getting absolutely. No sleep. So I am taking 1 dose of Wellbutrin in the morning and 1 Effexor in the afternoon. My sleeping is better. But I've noticed the depression and anxiety have come back. Do you think 37.5 mg of Effexor is enough or should I be taking them together. I have been taking them for 1 week. I must say with the addition of Mobic my pain has almost disappeared.

Brief Answer:
Effexor dosage is insufficient

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

I absolutely think your clinical condition, especially with respect to depression and dosage of Effexor, requires some adjustment in drug dosage. The appropriate dosage of Effexor in my Opinion is (37.5 x 2)mg of Effexor, ie two tablets of Effexor daily for at least a month. This is the dosage that is effective and produces maximal results with moderate to severe depressive crises.

Taking the two tablets of Effexor in the morning and the other tablets as usual, in my opinion, should be appropriate.

Kind regards as I wish you the best of health. Do feel free asking follow up questions in case you got any specific concerns.

I think youre answer is where i was going with this. Yesterday i actually took another. But from what ive read the Wellbutrin increases the effectiveness of thr Effexor yet im not sure i Quit the Wellbutrin. Taking Effexor in the am helped a great deal but when added with the Wellbutrin i felt zingy. I will call my doctor and explained to him what is going on. Thank you so much. Im sure for you that was a simple answer but for me I needed some expert advise. I usually would take Wellbutrin in am and pm. My concern is not being able to sleep. I want to be able to get off the couch and be creative which at 61 I have many projects started over time but i find no pleasure in them. Living alone is difficult as well. It is getting to be summer and i want to feel more alive and have the ability to take an interest in keeping myself involved. I will give this a try. Thank you.
