Question: Hi doctor. My girlfriend and I had unsafe sex but she took ipill before 72 hours. After 5-6 days she got heavy bleeding. But it's been 2.5 months and she didn't get her second period. She did pregnancy test twice but came negative. Is there any serious problem?

Brief Answer:
Delay can be due to hormonal disturbance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The bleeding that she got after 5-6 days of taking I-pill was a withdrawal bleeding. The delay in periods for last two and a half months is likely to be due to hormonal imbalance, emotional upset, anxiety, stress, or other medical conditions that affect the ovaries, uterus, hypothalamus, or pituitary gland.
Progesterone pill Like Norethisterone can be given to induce period. Kindly, procure a complete prescription from your doctor.
In addition, she would take healthy diet (LOW CARBOHYDRATE) with more green vegetables, drink more water, keep bowel habit regular, avoid mental stress by meditation or yoga, control body weight by regular physical exercise and maintain genital hygiene properly.
Pregnancy is not likely as the urine tests are negative.
