What Causes Dark Green Stool?

default
Posted on Sat, 6 May 2017
Question: A couple of days ago i noticed my stool was dark green. Did some research and noticed it could have been because i had leafy green vegetables which is fine so over the next couple of days i have been monitoring my stool and the colour is back to normal but noticed some dark green specs especially when wiping, not very noticible otherwise. This morning when wiping noticed a small black dot on the tissue. Again when looking at the actual stool cant see much apart from the usual brown colour. Sorry for the awkward question but just trying to understand whether this is ok or not. Many thanks

Brief answer....I don't think there is any need to worry
Detailed answer.....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
In general black dots in stool are due to normal causes like eating black pepper, bananas, some fruit seeds etc, however sometimes it could be due to some bleed inside your gut specially if you are taking plain killers or aspirin quite often.
I would advise you to just keep a check on your stool for next few days and get the stool checked if stool starts turning black or if you start finding more black dots in the stool.
I am quite sure that it is all normal and nothing to worry but just keep a check.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
