What Causes Crawling Sensation Under The Skin Leading To High Fever?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Sep 2017
Question: Experienced odd sensation, like ants crawling under my skin in extremities, then quickly experienced severe fever, extreme discomfort where all I could do is lay on the floor until my spouse found me, got me in a cold tub of water. Once cooled off, went to bed for the evening. Severe fever, heat in my body felt much worse than anything I have ever experienced. Yet no real stomach issue, no vomiting, and felt reasonably well by morning. Anything sound like serious concern? Almost seems like what I've heard happens with something like spider bite, but no evidence I was bit.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
High fever is indicative of an infection. It may be either viral which is often self limited and may require only symptomatic treatment or bacterial in which case an antibiotic is required in addition.
It is unlikely to be due to a spider bite as that would produce a local reaction in addition to the systemic symptoms.
I agree that it would be good to have yourself examined by a doctor and treated well.

Given temps this weekend were 105 + and i did moderate activities, do my symptons seem like heat related?

Detailed Answer:
Tiredness and exhaustion can occur with high atmospheric temperature. Heat stroke leads to high fever and there would be muscle cramps and muscular pain, high colored urine, headache and dizziness.
Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids and increase your salt intake if you have be outside in the high temperature.
