Brief Answer:
beta blocker can precipitate acute attack in chronic lung disease patients

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Beta blockers like propranolol are not commonly known to cause cough or sore throat. Such incidence is very rare.
But in chronic lung disease patients like COPD( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or asthma patients, it can precipitate acute attacks. Hence it is contraindicated or avoided in such cases. If you are a known chronic lung disease patient, you should consult your doctor. Otherwise you might have some throat infection, but propranolol should not be the cause of it.

Hope this was useful.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
consult your treating doctor for change of medication if required

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
It is not very common to have bouts of cough on taking medicine like beta blocker. You might be allergic to it though this is quite uncommon too. Anyways, if you are having problems with it, I can give you two suggestions.
First is continue it for another week. If you get accustomed to it and cough decreases, you can go on with it.
Otherwise you can consult yout treating doctor for change of medication if required.

Hope this was useful.
Regards.
