Brief Answer:
It may be due to aging, unnoticeable injury or other causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

There are many causes of bruising in elderly patients.

Tissues, particularly the connective tissues, weaken with age and even minor insignificant trauma can result in bruises appearing. Moreover diabetes, blood disorder, insignificant trauma all can leads to easy bruising in elder patient.

You should check your blood sugar level and platelets count.

Don't worry much about that.

Cold compression & leg elevation can help in healing.
For pain paracetamol should be taken. Avoid aspirin or anti inflammtory drugs.

If you have bleeding or severe pain then consult your doctor urgently.
Otherwise you can wait. It will heal within 1 or 2 weeks.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
