What Causes Constant Nausea, Intermittent Diarrhea And Sore Breasts?

default
Posted on Fri, 9 Oct 2015
Question: Hi, I've been suffering with constant nausea for the past 3-4 weeks. It varies in strength but never disappears. I also have diarrhoea every 2/3 days otherwise pass normal stools in between times. I've lost 5kg in weight over the past 2 months. In the past 48 hours I've developed sore breasts.
I've not had a period in 7 weeks (which is not unusual for me) and I've taken a pregnancy test which was negative.
Any ideas? Because I'm starting to get worried now :-(

Brief Answer:
Explained below...

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

1. Constant nausea for the past 3-4 weeks which never disappears associated with diarrhea every 2/3 days are suggestive for possible:
- GI problems: gastritis or related to gallbladder. I advise to run an abdominal ultrasound and liver function test for further evaluation.
- genital issues: as you have not had a period in 7 weeks, it might be a hormonal disbalance or possible ovary cyst. Again an abdominal/pelvic ultrasound will be helpful in determining the right cause

2. Sore breasts are due to hormonal changes as you are expecting your next periods.

3. What is strange to me (and which required immediate attention) is losing 5 kg in over a couple of months. If you have not followed a strict diet to lose weight; then, further investigations are needed to determine the cause: complete blood count; abdominal ultrasound; liver/kidney/pancreas function test; hormonal balance.

Hope it was of help!
