Brief Answer:
not a known side effect but persons react differently to medication

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Welchol is not known to affect breathing but persons can react differently to medication.
In the respiratory tract it can cause runny nose, sore throat and flu symptoms.

If you are having problems with breathing then it may be best to speak to your doctor and discontinue the medication.

Causes of chronic diarrhea include: (1) infection- this would have been ruled out with the stool test
(2)irritable bowel syndrome
(3)inflammatory bowel disease- crohns and ulcerative colitis
(4)diabetes because it affects the nerves in the gastrointestinal tract
(5)thyroid disease
(6)food intolerance or allergies
(7)side effect of medication

You may need blood tests such as thyroid function tests, complete blood count and ESR.
A scope of the colon may also be needed as well.

A high fiber supplement to bulk up the stool may help in some persons eg metamucil or cetrucil or benefiber
Meds such as peptobismol

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
